Sounds like brown jelly disease which is not a good thing

Get some lugols and follow the directions and dip it. Also definetly suction it off of it.
After thinking about it i had one survive and it is huge now. The problem is that it can spread to other corals so do what you need to quickly. Craig

And unfortunately, Goniopora (which I'm assuming you're talking about) doesn't have a very high survival rate with brown jelly.
If you know how to frag it, now might be a good time.

And from that site, as well: "Treat the coral by removing it from the tank and place it in a container with an iodine solution. Gently blow the brown jelly off while the coral is in the solution AFTER removing it from the display tank."
