Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. I gave the lens back to the friend I borrowed it from. I think I'm gonna pick one up and a decent tripod. My tripod is flimsy and garbage. Perhaps I'll find a deal during boxing week.

ya, definitely get a decent tripod. I started with a cheap flimsy one too and the wind blew it over, along with my camera and lens one day

I since got a Manfrotto 190XPROB. an awesome and bullet proof tripod ! And if you're not a wimp like I am they make a model up from this one that's a bit beefier in the legs.
