I popped in an airstone and moved the powerhead a little. The fish are breathing better now (though still a little harder than usual). The clown is being very odd, but the Chromis and the goby are doing well.

I'll take the media out tomorrow. The Seachem website indicates that Matrix can be used in conjunction with Paraguard, so I'll put some of that in to give the nitrifying bacteria more to colonize.

Sounds good that the fish breathing a little better. I'm sure that three weeks will fly buy and the breathing will continoue to improve as time goes on.

huh...where exactly did you see this? Are you refering to Matrix carbon?

Nope. I'm referring to Matrix (the filter media).

I read it in one of the FAQs on the site. The FAQ also indicated that Purigen can be used with Paraguard, though the Purigen will filter out some of the malachite green and will alter the effectiveness of the treatment (though won't render it useless).

I don't have ich or velvet in the tank. I suspect one of the fish carries, but is resistant to, brook. The breathing issues are related to oxygenation in my QT, and Clowns are very sensitive to Paraguard (according to Seachem's website) to begin with (they recomend 1/2 dosages for Clowns).

The Paraguard is for the suspected Brook. While I think Ich-X may be a better treatment for it, Ich-X requires big daily water changes and our camping schedule doesn't allow for that right now.

Of the three clowns I've purchased (all from the same source) I've lost two of them to "Brook-like" symptoms within three days. I bought a pair, lost one, then replaced the one that died, and lost that one. The little guy I still have probably has it. Another Clown will be added once I get everyone all fixed up.

The Chromis could potentially be affected by brook as well. It is unlikely that the Goby would get it, but I want to keep the display fishless for now. I don't have anywhere else to put him.

I've already run through a week of PraziPro, as i thought the Chromis had roundworms. I think I was wrong on that one. The PraziPro seems to have fixed them up, but now I think they had flukes and not roundworms. The had some funny spots where they had lost their luster, and those are now gone. The white stringy stool now appears to be gone, too.

I'll do a second round of PraziPro after the Paraguard, just to be on the safe side.
