![]() I use this pump on my frag tank with a single 1" drain. I just use a valve on the output of the pump to scale back the flow a bit. So if the OP had a 1" or greater drain, the pump should be workable.

![]() very true....I just thought perhaps being that the display is 40g and not knowing what the original return pump is, there is a slight chance that the drain could be 3/4.....either way, knowing what the tank is capable of draining is the first step to choosing what return pump to use....

![]() Thanks for the info, yes the return is a 1'' and I do have a valve. I'm nervous about switching pumps before going to bed so I might wait untill tomorrow
