Ha Ha! I think you took him out of context.

But I agree with you Brett, I can find a dozen reasons for needing a bigger or even another tank.

I think he meant he has a light... but he could have a better light =)

I'm sure there are as many different justifications as there are fish-keepers.

If you're going to do it, do it right.
I've already spent $XX, what's a little more.
My fish really need the extra space.
My spouse is away for the weekend, they won't notice.
My corals really need better light.
I'd probably just spend the cash on drugs/alcohol/sex or all three, not necessarily in that order.
Etc, etc....

The list goes on and on....

Why justify it? It's my money and I'll spend it on what I want.

I made a fish savings account. I save a bit from each pay cheque and use it for everything fish related. Seems to make me feel better about buying big things, because I know I can't do it often :P

I normally think... what could the kids or wife have had if I hadn't spent another chunk on fish. I have to balance the guilt with the 'fun'.

how fun can be used to describe pruning valonia from the tank every night on a step-stool is beyond me

I personally stopped taking the wife with me to LFS because she can be worse then me, she will she something that she really likes and I have to get it.

I also have a saving account for my tanks, its in my back pocket and the wife doesn't get her hands on it most of the upgrades I have done and are currently doing are saved for by building stands and setting up full tanks for people that have no clue how to build one. Then I have to teach then how to care for it properly to the best of my ability.

Exactly. My wife enjoys the tanks too, and I'm sure she'd like to see me come home with some corals rather than two hookers and a harley!
