![]() I have gone through two meshwheels since I got my nano skimmer in July 2009.
Around a couple of months ago I ordered 2 new meshwheels but it would be 2 weeks or so to get them delivered from the U.S. so I decided to do a foam mod to hold me over temporarily. I got some black open-cell foam, the holes are maybe 2-3 mm size. I glued it on to the impeller where the meshwheel should go, then I trimmed it to a round disc the right size. The foamwheel has been performing great for over two months and my two replacement impellers are sitting in a box. I have also done a gate valve mod and the skimming is much more consistent since then.

In December of 2010 the above was posted as a solution to buying the expensive diamond grid impellers. Unfortunately I have never seen a photo of the mods. has anyone else had success with this mod? Or have you found a different supplier of the diamond mesh?
