TDS total dissolved solids.
I would venture that phosphate is dissolved in the water and would show up on the TDS meter.

i concur, that is why we have DI (de-mineralization by Ionization) If you measure PO4 in zero TDS water you will not get a reading. That's the whole point of having RO/DI.

Tap water is 17 PPM of TDS here in Port Moody zero after RO/DI.
