Hey Jim
Well I have about 400 ish gallon's in a room the size of a bedroom in the basement. The room does not have a return air to the furnace so the humidity cannot be sucked into the rest of the house.

I installed a bathroom air fan (larger in size) and left about a 3 inch gap under the door. The room is sealed. It get's very hot and humid when the light's are on. I have the bathroom exhaust fan on a humidistat and it turn's on when the room goes above 45 to 50% humidity (I can adjust this of course as well.)

In my opinion this is how you seal off a tank from rotting the rest of your house.
