I have been trying to get rid of it in my tank. It seems to take over with viny growth. Not sure of the name though. Quote:

halimeda algae
It is slower growing, but I pull it out of my tank as it uses up an enormous amount of calcium to grow and I dont fancy buying supplements so my macro algae can flourish I would rather the calcium I add to the tank be used by my corals.

It is a hard plant so the lawnmower blenny won't touch that. They usually only eat softer algaes.

I guess it's one of those things that depends on the person if it is a good idea to take care of, much like mantis shrimps, hermit crabs, and mushrooms, xenia, bristle worm etc. If you don't mind dosing a bit more calcium they can be good I guess. The only thing that it seems like everyone agrees is bad are cyanos and hair algae.
