To remove a critter I held it over a bucket and injected a turkey baster with water. It just slide out, but I knew exactly what hole it was in. Had no effect on the rock at all.

i would leave the stuff in there and put it spread out in a tank to cure, then remove unwanted critters as they shpw up.. if you have the time... the problem with dipping is you also remove the wanted critters and if you do it wrong can kill the bacteria in the rock. the best bet is to get dead drhy rock and resead it, but this takes time that most people don't want to waist.
