Everything i've read so far about zeo and fauna say less algae and almost non existant coraline algae

The temptation is minimal though, I can't even remember to take my vitamins, there is no way I'd remember to dose my tanks daily

Hi Marie

I have been using ZEOvit now for 2 1/2 years under 250w MH and my Coraline algae is thick and a beautiful purple in colour.

Well geez, I always figured I had options when I got tired of cleaning powerheads. At least I didn't spend a bunch of money before finding that out.

You might as well leave them dirty.

I have herd that Coraline Algae does not do well at higher light 400W. However this is probably wrong as well.

I believe that it is one of those things, If you want it, it will not grow. If you do not want it , it grows like crazy.

If you get your tank to ultra low nutrients, you will see less coraline for sure. Many of the ZEO tanks are proof of that. Heck the ocean is proof of that. I was amazed by how little coraline was on the Great Barrier Reef when we were there 3 years ago. Some of the other dives in Australia though were in lagoons and we saw much more coraline and just algae in general. So it certainly needs some nutrients to survive.

Many ZEO tanks though don't get all the way down to that ultra low nutrient level I don't think, so there is coraline. I also don't think running ZEO would kill off all your coraline.

I actually really love your tank (looks very natural to me) and kind of like all the coraline. But I only have to check it out once in a while in pictures, not clean it every month
