OK new information -
lamps will come with control module so there will be only one power line coming out of the module, unlike other Fixtures that have 2 or more and maybe a DC line also ALL lamps will come with LED moon lights installed, when the lamps go off the moon lights come on. Dimming - To begin with 24w 39w and 54w will be made available in dimming, the dimming will be controlled by GHL ProfiLux, the ProfiLux simply plugs into the control module of the lamp fixture. 80w dimming will follow on possibly in February The fixtures will be slightly wider than originally planned to incorporate the latest additions Later next year there will be further advances in the dimming options Availability - orders can be taken from late December for first wave shipping in late january, from then on there will be steady supply. Thats it for now but i am sure you will agree this fixture is turning out to be hard to beat ![]() Last edited by Aqua-Digital; 11-17-2008 at 10:48 PM. |

2 Will the LED's be independently controlled so you can have various numbers of them on per unit? And if so can this be controlled by the profilux to simulate the moon phase? 3 Is the dimming on a set parameter as in 100% or 50% or 0%. Or is it variable as in 0% all the way up to 100% ? 4 When you say there are further advances in dimming options later in the year do you know what these options are? and are these lights going incorporate something like the profilux and can be 100% upgradeable? 5 For the light to be off does it need to be hooked up to the Profilux power bar or will the dimmable part of the light be able to switch it off? Thanks Cam |

1 Will the power line be for power only, switching multiple tubes per unit, and with a separate control cable?
No the control cable will be within the powerline going into the control box 2 Will the LED's be independently controlled so you can have various numbers of them on per unit? And if so can this be controlled by the profilux to simulate the moon phase? No these will be independant and not controlled by the ProfiLux 3 Is the dimming on a set parameter as in 100% or 50% or 0%. Or is it variable as in 0% all the way up to 100% ? As with ALL GHL dimming capabilities it will be 0% to 100% 4 When you say there are further advances in dimming options later in the year do you know what these options are? and are these lights going incorporate something like the profilux and can be 100% upgradeable? Yes - 80watt dimmable, as for the profiLux, there will be an option to purchase a GHL Profilux light II to run the dimmable modules, if you want a profilux that is upgradeable then at time of purchase talk to your retailer about a deal on a ProfiLux plus II 5 For the light to be off does it need to be hooked up to the Profilux power bar or will the dimmable part of the light be able to switch it off? The lamp will be fitted with zero volt switching as standard |

Can you clarify something for me?
Will the non-dimmable fixtures have only one cord also? If that's the case does that mean that if the fixture is not controlled with a GHL controller that all the lamps will turn on and and off at the same time? Also, will non-dimmable 24" 6 and 8 lamp fixtures be released in the first wave of released fixtures? (I just checked the sister thread on RC and see that a 6 lamp 24" fixture is the retail standard so you can ignore this question )What is the standard fixture color?

Ok to clarify - there will be one power line harness, which will have all the seperate cables inside, this saves the birds nest seen with many other lamps, espcially ones mixing 12V cooling fans etc! Yes 6 tube standard on 24w. was to be 4 tube but actually due to your personal input I increased this, so we are listening ![]() Last edited by Aqua-Digital; 11-18-2008 at 03:47 PM. |

Here are the standards
24w = 6 tube 39w = 8 tube 54w = 10 tube 80w = 10 tube Same goes for dimmable. I have one sample leaving Germany by sea freight in about two weeks, I will be shipping this to Progressive reef when I get it No idea what configuration it will be yet. |

Just regarding the comparison to shop lights, the main difference would be economies of scale in supply manufacturing and distribution. If twenty million people were buying T5 pendants they would cost 75 bucks each. All in all the price is determined by supply and demand, I hope these units will come out in a price range that fits me, not expecting the manufacturer to give them away for free, but over $1000.00 for lights is Ferrari price range and I am a Honda person myself.
