I'm using a Vortech MP40W on my 45g tank. I think if you go with vortechs u need one for every 60g to get the most benefits. Tunze's are better for large tanks I think (200g plus or 8' and longer). The vortech doesn't have much strength 3' away from the powerhead in the water.

I ordered a vortech from J&L a couple weeks ago and emailed to confirm they're all version 2 and Jeff from J&L confirmed they are.

Thanks for your opinions and info on the pump. My tank is only a 72 gallon and from what i have read and seen in video i am sure it will be more than sufficient. I had a hydor 4 which just died for some silly reason after 7 months so instead of replacing it i will invest in a better pump.
