FW right? You want to turn over you tank's total volume 5 times an hour so plan for more like 200 - 300 GPH after head loss is accounted for. This would take a pump rated for about 600 GPH, a RIO 1700+ should do it.

Picked up a 515 gph pump, says it will spray 11' with minimal head loss, I guess we'll see...

11' with "minimal" head loss? Either whoever designed this pump should get a Nobel Prize or they're using a rather flexible definition of "minimal".

most pond pumps are not rated for saltwater and will degrade quickly if used for salt.

Danner mag drive, or Pentair Quiet one Pumps are pond pumps that excell in SW. I have a few of each.
