The lack of comparable Canadian outfits is probably due to the higher domestic prices for acrylic. There are some places like http://www.miraclesaquariums.com/index.html but they are back east and have limited selection. |

Depends on who you talk to
BUT, in general, acrylic is lighter, clearer and stronger(especially in an earthquake). So it makes sense for LARGE tanks or tanks that are weird shapes and sizes.

I found a place in Langley, BC that claimed they could make anything...and had acrylic up to 1" thick. Unfortunately, they had no experience making aquariums in particular - which made me nervous.
In the end, I went with Envision in Oregon. http://www.envisionacrylics.com/index.html He provided a lot of experience and actually built things into the tank that I had not considered. (ie. removable overflow strainers)
