well, like i said, i have done everything else and next yeear want to try something odd. i think your right about the climate though, although we do get 30+ days, we can get very cold at night...also, would the rain pose a HUGE problem?

Sure... your pond would have to be covered, no? And if it were covered, it would add a lot more heat on 30+ days . But, I am not the DIY pond expert so I wouldn't even know where to begin on something like this.
(also, as mentioned.. if it rains and it enters your pond, you have to watch SG)

I don't think you could grow corals up there in Edmonton, but down here in Calgary we certainly get enough sunlight to grow even the hardest SPS.

Just a thought, would it be possable to heat the pond if it wasnt too large,or would the cost be too much? They must make larger heaters for such a thing.
I just did a search for pond heaters and came up with quite a few sites,so I guess they do.

I think the biggest problem woudl be keeping it cool enuf int he summer. you would need one big assed chiller and I don't know if this would be worth the cost. and again the same thing goes for heating in the winter.. depending on the size it could cost over 100.00/month just for heat and cooling.
