![]() Yeah it is! Dont be intimidated because this stuff is for 'reef' use. It's just basic electronics. Just use heat shrink to wrap
up areas where the wiring might touch (when they shouldnt be). Plus everyone has a junk drawer full of miscellanous AC adapters. I'm actually using 2 of them to power the 120mm fans that I use to cool my canopy. Just check the Voltage rating, and get resistors for the LEDs accordingly. Quote:

![]() Well I ended up buying the LEDs already strung together with a power adaptor for 27 bux shipped to me so that wasn't bad.. I went around looking for the power adaptor and it was 10-15 bux plus taxes just for that so I figured I would save the time and maybe a few bux and order it since the price seemed decent... In 9 days I sould have my lights and the will be on the tank same day of course

I got the 6 LED string i think it may be a bit much but I can always tone it down buy taking out a light or 2 rather than having to order more again... You hav to order without the power supply unless you PM him and he will make up a buy it now for 12.40 plus shipping 13.00 with everything included.

![]() Thanks.
I found a power supply with various voltages. I wonder if I can also use this to hook up a computer fan and switch voltages to control the fan speed. http://nanotuners.nanocustoms.com/na...roducts_id=119 |

![]() Yeah that would probably work fine but at 13 bux your better off getting it from the ebay site I mentioned its only 4 bux I think plus shipping everything with the lights came to 27 bux shipped.

![]() You can try RP Electronics for Blue LEDs. RP is near Brentwood Mall in Burnaby and they have a variety of electronic gizmos, audio/video connectors and cables, learning kits, X10 and variety of surplus stuff.
If you are looking for a special LED or you plan to buy tons of LEDs, then I would try www.digikey.ca Yes, you can use a computer power supply as a power source for your LED. You don't need the fancy fan control since you can just use an appropriately sized resistor to limit the power. You can buy a cheap transformer from Cal's on Grandview/Rupert if you need something smaller ![]() - Victor. |
