Moonlights

Nice, but as I have said many times, moonlights are merely a gimmick that gullible reefers spend money on.

Well for me, stuff opens up at night now. i.e. my green star polyps used to hid so that all you'd see is the purple base. With the moonlights, they come out at night. Plus my gobies are more active now at night. Right after the moonlights come on, they swim around the tank and explore places they usually wouldnt. The bubble coral seems happier as well.
So I dont think it's entirely a gimmick. At the very least, it makes the tank more enjoyable at night. Why else are we holding these sea creatures captive, if not for our own enjoyment, right? Quote:

I know they're not a necessity for home aquariums Bob.... but many animals have been induced to spawn only after replicating lunar light cycles...

I just want to be able to see some of the creatires that come out only at night and not have to get out the flashlight :)
Anyone in between abbotsford and vancouver have any LED's they want to see so I can DIY one myself ? I emailed a guy on Ebay but that will take some time to get from him . ________ wiki vaporizer |
It's basic electronics. Get an AC Adapter and check it's Voltage and milliamp rating, check the LED rating, then get a Resistor in between to reduce the voltage from the AC adapter to the LED to match that of the LED (too much power, and you'll blow the LED).
http://www.ledset.com/electronics/le...2vresistor.gif For multiple ones, just wiring them up in parallel: http://www.ledset.com/electronics/le...resistor_3.gif Here's the website with basic LED wiring diagrams: http://www.ledset.com/electronics/leds/5mm/wiring.htm Look up some Quote:
