6" peacefull, never have seen it bother any corals or inverts. Real cool fish, buries it's self in the sand at night. Wrasses are difficult to identify, but I believe it to be this type and a male. Eats pellets, Mysis, Bloodworms, Brine. ![]() ![]() |

![]() I think your Melanurus wrasse is actually a Richmond's wrasse (Halichoeres richmondi). The difference being, on the Richmond's the stripes are blue and appear like a chainlink (much like yours), where as on the Melanurus the stripes are red/orange and more uniform.
Beautiful wrasse though! I see Melanurus all the time but have never seen the Richmond's wrasse in person! Gorgeous fish! I'd gladly take him off your hands if you happened to be swinging through Calgary anytime soon ![]() |

![]() Yeah I think you are right. It makes sense size wise too as he is already past the max size of a Melanurus.
Thank You. |

![]() Thankfully I looked into this wrasse on my phone before an impulse buy a while back. They do get on the larger side. I think their duck bill looking mouths are hilarious.
