No, bangaiis won't eat flake normally. You will want to get them on some mysis and maybe a meatier homemade food.

My banggai touches nothing but mysis. If she takes a flake by accident, she spits it out and waits for the mysis. If I don't feed mysis quick enough she sits at the front of the tank staring at me. Mysis it is. Everyone else eats just about everything I feed the tank, but she holds out only for the good stuff.

All the bangaii I have owned/sold, has only ate mysis shrimp as a main course. They will also eat frozen brine but its not as good for them. Mine also ate a small amount of freeze dried Cyclop-eeze. Like others, never flakes or any of the pellet food I used.

And they love pods and live baby mysid shrimp, which is what my young started out on.

Can you get frozen Mysis shrimp and if not r they easy to rear so i can feed them to my fish. I have a refuqium with a fairly fine scrren door so i can open that and let the shrimp fall into the tank. But O man i am so excited and i called the LFS yesterday and they said that they have in some green star polyps. But they arnt opening its been 3 days and he has only seen 1 or 2 polyps open so there might be no or little hope.

Yes, most lfs stores sell frozen mysis shrimp. Sorry, thats what I meant I fed all my juvy or adult bangaii also. In a friends tank, where a couple of mine now reside, besides frozen brine or mysis, them seem to love frozen plankton. I have also used frozen bloodworms at times, but not as a staple.

New young, survived by eating live mysid, that were abundant in my refugium overflows, where some of the young bangaii ended up. The mysid ate Cyclop-eeze and although not positive, I believe the young bangaii were also.
