Just wondering if anyone knew of any cheap places to pick up a dvd burner? new or used... as long as it works. The cheapest I have found so far is $119 at www.memoryexpress.com

thanks.

Here's 1 for $99.98. Can I can't believe how cheap DVD writers have become. But the shipping cost might negate the savings unless you are in Vancouver.

I don't know anything about the Liteon brand. I have the 4X LG 4040 and its awesome. The 8X LG one can be found for about $129 in some places. If its anything like the 4X model, it should be pretty good too.

http://www.cdfreaks.com/

You'll find everything you need to know there. Hardware reviews, software recommendations and guides to teach you how to burn pretty much everything. I have a Liteon 411s, burns pretty much everything from my experience so far. Liteon's a highly recommended brand amongs ppl who like to make "backups".

Oh, OK.

$108 http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...=LDW-411S/451S

LG 4081B also does DVD-RAM in addition to DVD -R/W +R/W and its 8X instead of 4X for the LiteOn above. Man, I paid the same price for the slower 4X 4040 model only a few months ago. These below might not come with software though.

http://www.sonexpc.com/?mod=hardware&pid=00000136 $129

http://www.legendcomputer.ca/ $120 if you can pick up in Vancouver.

Cheap is not always the best. I am getting a Plextor DVD burner in a short while (unless something else comes my way that I need/want more )
