![]() This will likely seem like a silly question for most of you . . . but . . . My wife and I are setting up our first tank. We finally added salt water and rock a number of weeks ago. We are using a Salifert Ammonia Test Kit - When doing the comparison to the colors on the card, the test water is cloudy looking but does not seem to have any yellow in it. Is this a reading of 0, or do we need to wait for the test water to become clear?
In additional tests, the Nitrate is reading 1, and Phosphate is reading 0.

![]() If it's just cloudy and no coloration, you're fine. The presence of NO3 also indicates the cycling is nearing completion, and you could probably add a fish. Test again after a day or two, be ready to do a small water change if you see color in the test.
