Seneye Reef
i havent seen much info coming out for these lately.. there was alot of buzz everywhere when they were being set to roll out...
anyone in canada running one? Seneye Reef Monitor http://reefsupplycanada.com/cgi-bin/...ada&item=58402 from what i have found on other forums there is supposed to be an add on sometime soon so that it will measure nitrate/nitrate/kh/chlorine. But wanting to see some user reviews before i get one. Or maybe just i should just wait for the D.A. Lifeguard to come out as it looks similar but without the subscription requirements.

i have been looking at this device for a while too now, still contemplating about getting it
my friend in the uk has one and says it is really really good, besides the subscription issue and the cost of replacing the cards (the water measurements) its actually cheaper both in the shortrun and longrun i might pick one up soon and will let you know how it goes (actually by next week maybe) |

I do see much use for most of it but $189 for a par meter ain't to shabby. If it's accurate seems well worth for that aspect alone.

That should say I don't see much use for most of it.

i got in touh with my buddy and he has some more info
the par meter is accurate he has a neptune apex as well and has compared the readings between the two devices and they are similar with an error of 0.5 at times he prefers the seneye because it has a prediction module which tells you if you need to get on a water change or if your ammonia is rising i think its a worth it investment |

it's the $8 per month that holds it back for me as well as leaving that 'usb stick' thingy in my display tank.

Yeah I'd buy it if you didn't have to keep it in the water. It would be more ideal if you could just put it in the tank when you needed and take some readings so the slides would last substantially longer but I don't believe it works that way. I read somewhere as well that PAR meter won't work with LED lighting for whatever reason.

Been using one since Christmas as a PAR meter due to high cost of shipping have not ordered more slides.
Have used the PAR meter on LEDS but note the qoute below from the SENEYE website "We recommend that the seneye PAR function is used only as a measure against light readings taken from other seneye devices or a seneye PAR organism table. Why? most PAR devices are aimed for use in greenhouses where they are more interested in the red end of the PAR spectrum as this is where most terrestrial plant get there useful light from. The seneye device is more sensitive than most at light below 450nm (bluer). This is arguably the most important spectra for coral and why most marine aquarists use additional actinic (03) spectrum bulbs." Found the web portal for datalogging displaying etc. very slow. Tried to find a wireless solution to hauling PC into fishroom when I first got it but was unable to locate the wireless USB sender listed in manual. As I had planned only to use it as a PAR meter I feel it serves my purposes well. If I had I wireless USB sender and a local source for slides I would definately use it more. |

How much are the slides once you get them shipped?

I just ordered one from reefsupplycanada.com and should be here in a couple of weeks. Great service so far, however they didn't have the slides available for purchase yet, so I ordered them directly from Seneye.
Great thing about reefsupplycanada are that they are in Canada, Kelowna, BC to be exact. They are currently offering FREE SHIPPING on the Seneye, which saves about $35 USD and the whole shipping and duties from the UK ordeal. I'll update once I receive it.
