![]() i have a red sea max 130 and find the skimmer loud now that i moved to an apartment. can i turn off my skimmer even if the skimmer is not making any skimate right now anyway.

![]() I would leave it on if you have fish in the tank. But if not, just shut it down at when you are home and turn it back on when you are out.

![]() RSM skimmers suck. Maybe you should consider a replacement that will run quiet and pull skimmate.
I have an RSM 250 and bought my skimmer from Nano Reef Systems http://www.nanoreefsystems.com/ but there are others that will fit your 130 and work well too. |

![]() I had one of those RS130's .....skimmer never made much of a noise until I left it too long and it needed a cleaning. Did you pull it and check the pump? Air hose is clear? Just a thought.
Now the freakin light fan in the hood sounded like a freight train. B
