![]() I have a small Question....When creating a new tank and you are curing your live rock and you want to have a DSB should a person wait to add the Live sand till after the rock is cured or can you just add it all together. I am planing on starting a 120 with 100lbs of live rock shortly. This will be my first Salt tank

![]() Hey, welcome to the board.
When I asked about this at J&L, I was told to cycle the rock without sand, then vacuum up all the debris off the bottom glass before adding LS. You can still decide at that point if you want the rocks resting on the tank bottom or not, you'll be rearranging them anyways... ![]()

![]() I'm with AJ here.
Cure the LR in your tank, when its finished curing clean up the detritus and add sand. What I did to make my rock structure a little more stable is pretty easy - I made a platform for my LR to sit on out of eggcrate and pvc pipes for the legs. I have 5" of sand, and the eggcrate platform is about 3" tall, so you cant see the eggcrate in the tank. |

![]() There's mixed opinions on whether or not you should re-use that sand at all. For some good information, check here:
