I have a Vertex 180 and it sits with 6-8" of water. I have an old Euroreef RS100 that sits in 8-10" of water.. |

![]() I have the alpha cone 250. Works the best in 10" of water. I would recommend you get an auto top up if you don't already have one so you dont have to keep adjusting your skimmer.

![]() As others stated, it will depend on the skimmer. But with my old EuroReef and now my Hydor, I find between 7-8 inches the best for me.
