![]() Thanks for the nice comments. Reefer Rock is not only a great rock for its bio-filtering capability but a very nice looking rock as you can see with the pictures in this thread and the ones on the website.
The rock is fairly consistent from piece to piece in its characteristics. You can't go wrong by using a natural calcium carbonate rock that was formed by an ancient coral reef (geologically young compared to some of the dry rock that have been sold in the hobby over the years).

![]() Can you give us an idea of how dense it is?
I bought "reef rock" at a store. Even though it was 3.50/lb, the pieces were SOLID rock with nice holes. I think it was comparable to texas holey rock (for any african cichlid fans out there). 3.50 - A nice sized piece of rock was about 2.75lb 6.99 - A piece of fiji premium (approx same volume/size) would have been 2b lb 2.99 - Tuffa rock (similar size) would have been 1.5lb 3.99 - Petrified rock (for reference, i'm sure you've seen this stuff) would be like 5-6lb! |
