Default Seahorse Requirements Research

Would like to know from those who have seahorses what is all required. I know that you need min. flow & can't have any active tank mate's. I have a 45 gal hex that I am setting up with a CPR Overflow to a 10 gal sump ( or more) a small return pump and have a SeaClone 100 for a skimmer (if needed).

How strong of lighting is required? What type's of coral's should be / could be in tank? Anything anyone can tell me will help. Not going to be setting up the tank until the new year but want to have all the info I can.

heres where i got most of my info from

http://www.seahorse.org/library/arti.../library.shtml

they even have a tank mates guide which rates suitability for horses, i have 3 in my reef and had to get rid of a couple corals that sting, it can be a little disappointing with the limitations on what you can keep but i would never get rid of mine, basicly no overly active fish, no stinging corals, low flow, lights are just for whatever corals you keep, sps sometimes dont do well if irritated by constant hitching (although mine do just fine), and make sure they feed well on a nutritious food source as they will need feeding often since they have a poorly developed digestive system, hope tht helps

Good info. I have a 45 gal hex that will be soley for the ponies with a CPR overflow to a 10 gal sump, in sump skimmer, a low flow return pump and a cooling fan for the summer.

Do you have a UV Sterilizer on you seahorse tank?
