I will try to get a picture of these things if necessary but somebody might know from a discription. my sump has been running for about 3 weeks & last night i noticed dozens of little tan colored critters attached to the sides & dividers. they are about 1/8 of an inch , cone shaped with what resembles a few little hair coming out of the top. any ideas

Probably pineapple sponges. Pretty common and harmless filter feeders that prefer darker areas like sumps. You can do a google image search for them and see if it is the same.

Im pretty sure it sounds like the spirobid worms. I have them too.
