![]() I am going away for 2 weeks. A friend of mine agreed to drop by every 2 days to feed my 29g biocube reef tank with some frozen food. I was thinking about making an automatic feeder with live brine shrimps to feed the fish. Any ideas how to make one? or are they available commercially? or maybe someone here has one I could borrow or buy?
Thanks! |

![]() this is NOT reliable, and will polute your water.
I'd rather feed less then to use this thing. Your tank will be fine with less live food for two weeks, just make sure your tank sitter understands how feeding is different from OVERfeeding. |

![]() Yeah I was afraid of the polution...especially ammonia from the hatched eggs.
The tank sitter is fine - he has 3 aquariums himself to take care of :-) I will also prepare food portions for him to simplify his life... Just out of curiousty - how long can these fish go WITHOUT food at all: Royal Gramma Clowfish Green chromis 6line wrasse firefish 2 cleaner shrimps |

![]() Why not use an automatic dry food feeder? Dont all of your fish accept pellet food as well? I've beed using this unit for nearly two years and its fantastic http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/s...ct_ID=em-zfeed

![]() Here is a little trick for anyone that has someone looking after their tank while away.
I just went out an purchased a simple daily labeled pill box and filled each compartment with the right amount and types of food for each day. I added the frozen, dry flake, garlic, and vitamins and then simply placed the pill containers in my freezer. When my tank sitter arrived he simply opened up the corresponding day on the container and scraped the food into my tank....Done! No chance of overfeeding, fish and tank stay happy. Ian ![]() |
