Default Calgary Zoo is closing down the Ray Exhibit

I just received an email, the zoo is shutting down the ray exhibit and turning the space into something else. They are currently in talks to find new homes for the 12 rays still alive.

Just an FYI!

That is too bad. I guess they don't need a repeat. Hopefully it is still open today, I am heading there after work! and I really wanted to see that exhibit.

Hmm it's too bad that exhibit has had such bad luck... I heard amazing things about it when it was new.

Dunno what to think of it. It's like admitting they colossally bungled this right from the start. In a way, I'm disappointed .. but in a way .. maybe it's for the best.

I was glad they were told not to spend any more on new things and instead concentrate on fixing their problems.

+1 on both of those...

I think that they may have jumped in head first with the ray exhibit, first because it seems like they didn't do their (animal husbandry) homework, and second because it was a 'hands on' exhibit. With the public having access to something so delicate, something would have happened sooner or later anyhow.

Remember how the Crocodile Hunter died? "Hands on" sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen..

But I agree with Tony.. probably for the best.
