Default Eye opener about infection

If you do not read the Reefkeeping magazine on a regular basis you need to read this article. It details a very rare but possible bacteria infection we could pick up from our tanks.

Actualy this is scary, I was recently diagnosed with a "tumor" in my left (dominate) hand around the knuckle. I have not seen my specialist yet, still waiting for the appointment. But this makes me think this could be this disease? althought it does not seem to have the same type of swelling or ulcering.

Perhaps it's time to mentoin that bacteria by name and request a test to rule it out.

I will be writting it down for sure. But its funny, not sure which I would rather it be.. Apparently Tumors in the hand are 99% of the time benign which requires simple surgery where as this bacteria seems to be even worse..

lol, I have the same feeling when my GP first told me "its a tumor" . Plus he said it like it was a scratch.. Scared the crap out of me.. Tumor to me is the same as saying cancer . Tho I do recognise there is a difference..

Anyways! I will be getting better gloves for the TANK! Now that I have read this artical.

I have several medical links regarding it and treatment, plus the link to the long thread on RC, where he first posted about it. I can e-mail them if you are interested.

Doug, do we have a "Reefing Resources" section where such information could be deposited? That would be darned handy.
