Default Correct Iwasaki Bulb Ballasts

For those interested, here is a reply from the Iwasaki reps when asked the correct ballast for the Iwasaki bulbs, 250 watt in particular. I know we all run them off MH ballasts, but for your info anyways.

====
Lag reactor mercury vapor ballast are what these lamps were designed to operate on: very common in Japan, but not in North America.

The next best choice is a constant wattage auto-transformer (CWA) type mercury vapor ballast. Be careful, many ballast manufacturers list metal halide ballast for mercury lamp operation. What you are looking for is a true mercury vapor ballast.

The Advance number for the CWA mercury is 71A3572 (-001D)

Thanks for following up on this, and forwarding the info. Good stuff.

Of course, it means I have the wrong ballasts. Alas, much more money to be spent on this reef after all.

cheers
