Default Dow Flake 2-Part WARNING

It appears that Dow is changing the process by which they produce Dow Flake and may now contain a much higher level of Bromine.

Here is the thread from RC in the Chemistry section.

And I just bough a 44kg bag last week and was considering selling my CA reactor and just use this stuff.

I believe it is bromide.

The latest stuff I got (food grade Calcium chloride) has a manufacture date of 2004, thus ruling out the elevated levels.

I don't know if I wil be able to get more or not.

I would hope that in time someone finds a good new source.

TTBOMK DOW flake calcium (food grade) is OK if you have stuff that was manufactured before the increased bromide date. I have not seen anything that indicates that all DOW flake is OK.
