![]() I have had my live rock (100lb) in my tank for some time now.
My question is, how long can I safely remove it from the tank without killing it off. I want to remove it and drill/peg the rock together with 1/4" acrylic rod. I'm thinking this would probably take me a few hours. Will it be OK If I just keep the rock moist while it is out of the water? |

![]() ya, you'd be fine for a few hours. I've done it a couple of times. Put it tubs, and cover with plastic, and soak it down as it starts to dry

![]() A couple hours is fine but over 8 I would consider a pail of water over them every 4 hours

![]() While you got the rock out.. you can always sprinkle or spray with tank water every few minutes to keep the moisture on it

![]() Watch out if you have any live sponges living on the rock. Those die off very quickly when exposed to air. If no sponges, then you're fairly safe.
