Hi all,

I thought I'd share some photos that I have of the Duncans. The majority of the photos were taken with onboard camera flash and some Photoshop work was required to adjust for white balance, levels and contrast that is lost when you shoot through water and tinted glass. I tried to best accurately represent the corals as they are normally viewed through human eyes and not a lens and CCD.

My intent is to share these photos and I hope that you will like them as they are extremely nice corals and hard to come by.

Cheers,

The ones in the fifth pic are really pretty. Are they some form of zoo or paly? They kinda look like purple sun corals or something like that.

Hi,

Because I am not a sponsor of this board I am not able to post anything commercial regarding this coral. ie price and availability. All I can say is that you can check with the sponsors on this board as some of them will have them in stock.

Regarding the coral themselves, they are found strictly in Australia and are not commonly exported due to CITES restrictions with the Austrailian gov't.

From my experience they like low light and moderate to heavy flow. Their colors are very subtle and subdue and they are very easy to care for. I have not tried to feed them yet but understand that feeding will help their growth.

Thank you very much for all your comments and like I said, please contact your local LFS to inquire if they are expecting a shipment. You can contact me via PM also for a list of stores as well.

Thanks for looking.

Hey Anthony, here is a quote from eric borneman about duncans

Quote:
Eric Borneman (12/18/2006)[hr]They are tropical zooxanthellate phaceloid Dendrophyllids that are typically in mid-depth to deeper waters so they don't need a lot of light. Yes, they do feed willingly, and probably depend more on feeding than light since they are in deeper water, but perhaps they have a generally slower metabolism. This is not a well-studied species. In any case, they are not only from Australia, but their range is throughout the Philippines, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia. From everything I have heard, they are really easy to keep alive. I have never kept one myself.
I would love to get my hands on some...first dibs when you frag Sarah

Thanks for posting the link and added information Marie. I didn't think that they were that widespread geographically. According to my Australian supplier they were only available there. Great information.

Thanks,
