 But....what is this growing in the midst of my yellow polyps?  Thanks in advance!

Algae? I vote dictyota or sargassum.

It is a type of Sargassun Macro Algae... under the right conditions it can flourish. I had a piece start out about the same size as yours... it didn't do much for years. One day it just started growing and with in a month it had grown to the top of my 90g and covered most of the surface. It was fun for the first while watching it grow... then it became a pain... it grew so fast and the little bubble bits that will grow nearer to the top break off and clog everything.

Well, I thought it was probably algae, but....I was a bit confused by the white bit at the top. I thought it looked gorgonian-ish, but perhaps that was just wishful thinking
BTW...does anyone with these yellow polyps feed them directly with mysis or anything? I've done so and they gobble it up like nuts. Just wondering if it's necessary.
