I decided to monkey around with a siphon and some locline to see if I could make something for those hard to get at places. Here's my humble offering to mother necessity:

Ha ha, good stuff.

I saw a siphon with a filter build in, and it cleans water as it passes through. You can siphon dirty water from your display and have clean water pour into your sump with it. No need for buckets, etc.

I decided to make my own with two small $5 siphons. Put the caps on either end of the larger plastic tube, fill the tube with filter fibre ($7 for a bag the size of a pillow), and cut the hoses to the desired lengths on either side of the tube. It works pretty good.
