![]() Conflicting information around the web regarding ideal reef aquarium temperature leads me to ask this question. Myself, I like the 76-78 F range and am wondering what everyone has theirs at?
Note that the ranges overlap, choose the one that you are trying to maintain as the lower limit. If the type of lighting you use really affects the temperature, answer with the one maintained by your heater overnight. For example, if your tank is normally 78 F pick the option: "78 - 80 F". PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE OPTION "76 - 78 F" IN THIS CASE. |

![]() I keep mine a bit warmer because when we have a fire in the winter it really heats up the room and I don't want any huge temperature swings. With 4 HO T5's I don't have any issues with the lights heating up the water, just the fireplace. It usually stays around 81.

![]() I had a few spots of ich on my Hippo Tang, raising the temp to 81 cleared the problem up. Plus one of the RC people, I think it was Shimek, had an article about coral reef temperatures usually being in the low to mid 80's range.
On the other hand the higher the temperature, the lower the oxygen content of the water, so I can see the point of lower temperatures too. |

![]() Mine never go below 80 so I picked 80-82 since it does go up in the summer. I've been tempted to try lower, but just haven't had the desire to fiddle with the six or so heaters on the tanks to get it there.
