![]() Man, I've been wanting a refugium for over 8 months now but haven't gotten around to getting it done. The last quote I got for the sheets to build a 7 or 8 gallon acrylic tank was $170. Is that a bit high for an unassembled 8 gallon tank?
What alternatives do I have? I only need 1 of the 4 sides to be viewable. The other 3 sides of the tank can be opague. Is there cheaper acrylic for making a tank and where can I get it? |

![]() Assuming acrylic to allow easy drilling, if not store bought glass tanks quite cheap (and could be drilled).
Check out Scavenger home built tank in the this post (I'm impressed): http://www.canreef.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18899 Could make a plywood box with the non-viewable sides lined with thin acrylic sheet, in the front, thicker piece for the viewing pane. |

![]() The tank I need is 18" H x 8" L x 12.5" W. I won't find this in a store. Acylic is less likely to leak and easier to drill holes through and easier to seal for DIY.
