Default ASM G2 Skimmer

Anyone using one? Pro's / Con's? I am currently using a lousy Prism Pro Deluxe Skimmer... Sucks the big one. Horrible to adjust and never reliable. I've been looking at the G2 from ASM, but the cost at AI is deterring me from getting one ($530+) I believe. If you do have one, where did you get it.

Thanks - G

I'm running the ASM G3 on my 90g and LOVE IT....I too was using a Prism and it LICKS....

I would defintely recommend it. I was surprised at how quiet it is. I opted for the G3 as it came with a bigger pump.

I bought mine from the US for $265.95 (Global Aquarium supply) but I am lucky as my parents spend 1/2 the year in Arizona so I am able to save on shipping, customs etc.

I can't believe the gunk it pulls, my Prism Pro never pulled that much black guck....when they say plug and play they mean it. I empty the container once every few days and thats it. .

Also check out another US resaler, www.premiumaquatics.com for ASM skimmers. They had the cheapest price on the G4X i ordered, 419$ US. It is on the plane right now. Shipping was 43$ US for it but should be cheaper for a G2 as it is quite a bit smaller. Since they are made in the USA, you only have to pay GST, PST(in my case), and (I think) a 5$ brokerage fee when you pick it up, no duty is charged. The ASM's have a strong following over at reef central.

Can't wait to get my new skimmer, will post pics when I get it!

Heh, I priced out getting it from the US, it will cost me $310 CAD +GST. I think AI is marking up their prices a WEEEEE bit too much.

We have been using the ASM G2 on our tank for over a year now. Love it! Very easy to clean too.

Hey Doublette, Havent talked to you in a while. Are they easy to CLEAN? and adjust? (Biggest problems I'm having, plus the skimate is staying in the tunnel, not the cup.

I figure that if even I am capable of looking after this unit (knowing not much about them) then pretty much anyone can!
