They are nice units in design , low profile ,HQI which produce less heat than mogals .....
I bought three 250watt 14K Reef star units ,got a good deal on them too.
Now the bad news....none of the units would fire up at first , after an hour they did though. One flickered and the bulb blew up, then after getting another bulb and trying it again ,sparks threw every where and blew another bulb. Took the lamp apart to find that there was no wire connecter cover on one of the wires ( and I don't mean it just fell off or was loose ,it was missing all together ) After fixing that problem and geting another bulb , now the ballast wouldn't work .. One problem after another and several trips to the LFS ( I won't say which one)( but I will say they were VERY helpful with this problem though, but it puts everyone in a hard spot, Which I didn't like!!)
AS for dealing with Hamilton Teck they were of NO HELP AT ALL! They already have been paid and WE are in Canada ,so there view is tough luck and when you or your LFS calls ,they will just give you the run around.
IMO, Hamilton Teck have no quality control, probably kids puting the things to gether, and they don't care! And they don't test there unit before shipping them off.
I have since took all three units apart and found other problems

I guess this would be a reason to try the light out before you take it home from the LFS. That way if it doesn't work you just grab a different one and the LFS sends it back as defective

I've got the same unit, 250w 14,000k HQI, looks great nice blue and tons of light. The HQI ballast runs much cooler than the old magnetic ballasts.

I was going to get a Hamilton Reefsun pendent. I was told by the LFS that Hamilton wasn't a good product.
I would recommend PFO Lighting.

Ya ,your right but when you custom order them and you have to wait to get them in ,you just want to get them home and set them up!
But like I said my LFS was great about the warrenty ,They stand behind what they sell , Not those bums at Hamilton Teck!
