![]() I am looking for a pair of Clownfish, Preferrably True Percs because I like the full stripes, and not the half saddles that Oscellaris Clowns have.
I want very bright orange colored fish, and alot that I have seen lately have been a bit dull looking, as in black shadded spots.. There are some oscellaris at the LFS that are VERY bright but very small.. would they darken up when they get older? These ones look like my best bet for now as I know what they look like and I like them. Any tips on choosing some new clowns would be great ![]() Thanks all! |

![]() I have had 3 ocellaris clowns for almost a year now. When I bought them they were all about an inch long. Two of them have paired and hang out together all the time, while the other clown (an immature male) is allowed to hang out closely with them. The males have grown very slowly and have not changed color at all, while the female grew faster and is now quite a bit bigger.... as for colour, she has also darkened up a bit. Then again all my clowns are still young.
I wouldn't suggest getting more then 2 though as from what I have read most of the time more than a pair cause fighting. Here is a recent picture of my clowns with my Bubble Tip Anemone... you can see the colour difference between the female and the males. ![]()

![]() Oh yeah, and you should be able to feed them anything relatively.... they love it all! Mine get mysis shrimp, cyclopseeze, and flake food. They eat like pigs!

![]() Well dispite the Air Canada Mishap with the other clowns.. I went out and bought a pair here locally. They are about 3 months or so, very small, and VERY active, it's hard to get a clear pic.. this is the best one I could get

![]() Sometimes if you see really bright "true percs" at stores, they are just mislabeled ocellaris. I suspect it's because of selling reasons. And if they are just mislabeled ocellaris, then they might darken up in orange colour over time, but will not get the full darkening black colour all over them that is characteristic of true percs. Make sure you know exactly what true percs look like before you buy those bright orange "true percs", and make sure you inspect them carefully to be sure they really are true percs. Because at some of the LFS, their "true percs" are some of the most ocellaris-looking "true percs" I have ever seen!
