Default Cycle complete! But what to do with the pH?

I've had live rock in my tank for 4 weeks now and right now my water conditions are:

ammonia: 0
nitrate: 0
nitrite: 0
SG: 1.023
pH: 7.8

How can I get my pH up? I know using a "pH Up" solution is frowned upon, but is there anything else to do? Also, I'm going to start my tank off with a pair of percula clowns, when is it safe to add them? (I was hoping this weekend, but it will probably be next.)

PH 7.8 is not that bad. You can always add buffer to raise up the PH.

My PH was 7.8 for almost 2 years.. measure it at night and see if it is any higher, it is normal for PH to drop off over night.

I thought a pH of 8.2 was good for a reef?

8.2 is a desirable average, 7.8 to 8.4 is normal variation.

What is the PH of the ocean at night? That's the PH I'd like my tank to be at night.

I phoned Aquarium Illusions today (that's where I'll get my clowns from) and they told me that the pH of their clownfish tank is currently 8.4. Would that be too big of a risk to move these fish from 8.4 to 7.8?

Get some buffer. I use it and know many people that use it with no ill affects.
