The non pharmaceutical magnesium chloride hexahydrate de-icing salt that I bought was $30 for 50 lbs. It seems to be safe based on my (and at least one other persons) experience so far.

I called the Absolute Zero contact info from there website and tried to get the product locally in Victoria. Unfortunately there is no dealer on the Island but there is one in Port Coquitlam.

Also on the mainland is Univar where you can buy DeadSeaWorks Mag Chloride which is recommended by Randy Holmes Farley the chemistry expert on ReefCentral.

Call the contact off the Absolute Zero website and they can tell you where to buy the product.

i would def go for the dead sea works mag chloride over the de icing as the dsw is tech grade and purity is guaranteed for those applications, i'm actually looking at getting some so if we can get maybe 4 of us together we can get like 20lbs each for like 30 buckish. i can grab it in a few days

If you can get the DeadSeaWorks I'd be interested in my own 50lb bag.
Are you willing to help a fellow reefer out and ship to the island (at my expense of course).
Or I could possibly pick it up on Sept 7th.

because people with more brains than you or I have taken the time to analyze these chemicals and put their reputation on the line to say that it is safe for our tanks. Thousands of reefers are following this method by Randy:
