Cuz they're a pain to keep things stuck to with the amount of flow in the tanks + stupid frag flipping wrasse. The irregular discs have a lot of texture and surface area, so I get a 100% reliable bond using super glue or Al's Secret Sauce™ cement. They also blend in better than disc. Show me one person who doesn't have a REALLY stupid looking encrusting coral mounted to their rock via disc...
