Open it up and smell it....if it just stink of death than toss it and restart with new pellets, I would say if the pump died 24 hours or less you might have a slight chance of saving the bacteria but I would just restart. BTW, you can just rinse off the pellets and re-use them.

Ya I'm not sure how long it's been off anywhere between 1-4 days
I haven't opened it yet but the water looks cloudy. Don't think I want to take chance for the price of the pellets I should just dump them out and start over.better than fighting any problems that could arise. Is it gonna take another 4-6 weeks for them to start working again?
