Honestly, I like doing that with LPS since it's easy to just clip of the protruding mound that has grown down the plug and voila, a handy sized frag that will grow back in and you'd be none the wiser.

Ya, in that case I'd agree. It's mostly SPS I get bent about, I can always tell if there is a plug under the colony Although, I may have done that very thing today with a tiny frag I'm afraid to mess around with. I'll regret it, but I couldn't stand the frag mounts on the side of my tank anymore -lol

Scott, just lay down an epoxy pad for future frags to grow on. Or, I've also glued a small piece of rubble beside the frag for it to grow onto for fragging.
