![]() I had the same aqueon overflow, it sounded like boiling water under the stand. I converted it to a herbie and it is silent. It wound up being so quiet I had to replace the return pump because then it seemed too loud.

![]() Instead of using the 90deg elbow, maybe the 45deg one might make things quieter.

![]() i suspect the noise is more form air being sucked down the one drain line along with the water. not sure changing the elbow would help much. you need a way to balance the flow in the drain.

![]() It seems to be from the air that gets drawn into the line at the bottom of the standpipe.
The 90 is glued in; going to try pipe insulation. |
