So you guys always freeze prior to feeding? Or can it be feed the second you get it home?

No problem. You can feed them as they come. Freezing is just for keeping them over any period of time. I put the frozen half in the tank on a clip and it thaws right away.

Freezing is to avoid introducing unwanted parasites or bacteria to your tank. I highly recommend freezing them.

Freezing stuff doesn't kill bacteria, simply forces a dormant state. Once thawed, you still have the bacteria.
